Community Services to Keep You Safe and Healthy

HFMVA offers many services to the communities that we serve free of charge or at nominal cost.  If you would like to use one of these services, please plan ahead for your event and be aware that due to the pandemic some services may be curtailed.

Loan Closet

HFMVA maintains a loan closet that provides crutches, walkers, wheelchairs, and similar medical devices free of charge to residents in our service area.  Under emergency conditions such as the pandemic, this service is provided as a no touch service for pick-up and return. HFMVA also accepts donations of medical devices in good condition.

CPR and AED Classes

Classes for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and use of Automated External Defibrillator for residents and businesses in our service area are provided at the ambulance base 210 East Street.  Classes are provided at no charge.  If you need a Red Cross Certification Card, there is a $5.00 fee payable to the Red Cross for the card. We generally host classes in Spring and Fall. Sign up below to get notified when our next class is available.

Ambulance Standby

Every year, HFMVA provides standby services including onsite ambulance service at numerous school and community events.  As Mendon Ponds Park is in our service area, HFMVA provides standby services for many sporting events that occur in or near the park.

Red Cross Blood Drives & Annual Flu Vaccination Clinics

In cooperation with the Red Cross and local vaccination services, HFMVA sponsors blood drives and flu clinics in the ambulance base at 210 East Street.  Watch local newspapers and community bulletin boards for announcements for these events.

Community Presentations

Want to learn about HFMVA or maybe what is so special about our equipment or ambulances?  HFMVA can set-up a  presentation where you can learn and ask questions about what we do and the equipment that we use in emergency situations.

Medical Alert Information

HFMVA provides medical alert forms for you to use to collect your personal and medical information and keep in a place where it can be quickly accessed during an emergency. This information will help our EMTs and Paramedics learn important information about your health conditions and medications.  Having your health information available will help our crews and emergency department staff provide you with the best care possible.  Having health information readily available is especially important, if you have difficulty communicating with our EMTs or Paramedics.

Project Breathe Alert Labels

Many people in our service area have pets that are often considered part of their families.  HFMVA participates in Project Breathe and provides labels that you can place near the entrances to your house to alert first responders to the presence of pets in your house.  The labels are handed out at community events, or by contacting us.

Blood Pressure Checks

Free blood pressure checks are sponsored at the ambulance base, 210 East Street.  Due to the pandemic, blood pressure checks are not currently being scheduled.
